Your thoughts?

Gov. Kristi Noem, 52, may have ruined her chances of becoming Donald Trump's vice president after admitting in her new book to shooting and killing her 14-month-old dog and a family goat.

A person close with Trump's campaign told Semafor that the South Dakota governor has repeatedly proven she's a 'lightweight. They also compared her to Vice President Kamala Harris and how wildly unpopular she has become.

'We can't afford a Kamala problem,' the individual noted.

Noem is included on speculative lists Trump, 77, is considering for his running mate in 2024, but excerpts from her upcoming book No Going Back may have derailed those aspirations.

While the Republican governor acknowledged 'some people are upset' with revelations she killed her dog Cricket two decades ago she claims people want authentic stories from politicians that don't sugar coat the hard stuff.

Not. Gonna. Happen.
You want a VP pick that brings voters to your side, not repels them away.

I honestly don't see why this is a thing, who cares?
It goes to character (I know, a loaded concept regarding politicians) or in Gov. Noem's case, lack of character for trying to get a non-hunting breed of dog to learn how to be a hunting dog.

There's also the fact that she didn't have to put down Cricket (the dog in question); she could've easily gone to a shelter and given them the dog or found someone who needed a dog as a pet to care for her. By contrast, Ron DeSantis of all people had something similar happen but instead of putting down the two dogs that crossed paths with him and his family, he adopted one for his children and gave the other to a local shelter.

I wouldn't vote for someone who shot their dog.

Where does it say the breed and is it uncommon for that breed to be put to work on a ranch? A shelter will just kill it if no one wants it.

If it was biting people and overly aggressive, I don't see a problem though, but we have to take her word so there's no telling if it's true. Is this a case of city slickers never living on a ranch?

The dog, @NeoMetallix, was a wirehair pointer, a breed that's definitely not the kind of dog you want for hunting of any kind (there are better dog breeds available - labs, bloodhounds, German shepherds, etc.) and even if a shelter ultimately has to put down a dog they will at least make an effort to find a suitable owner for them (there are dog owners who've trained/tamed "aggressive" dogs).

No, it goes back to character or lack of in this case (which the more you look at most Republicans seems to be a feature, not a bug).
