When a spammer signs up, either a human or a robot, and then drops a bunch of sustainable organic fertilizer in several threads across the board, and is then flagged and deleted and their content removed.....

Does that count as a user and a dozen posts or do those counts reset as if it never happened?

When we flag a user as a spammer; it's an automatic ban. The forum software then hides theirs content and archives it, giving that user zero post count in the process.

I meant on the total count of users and posts for the board.

There are 101 users and 1001 posts tonight. At midnight Irma the Internet Used Appliance Lady's bot logs on and posts 11 ads. So now we have 102 users and 1016 posts. You log on and all that goes away.

Is the user count back to 101 and 1001 or does it stay 102 and 1016?

The count would reset back down, but if you track the id's associated to users, it will still be taken. For example, a spammer signs up and is assigned userid 123456, they're then deleted, that userid is not then re-assigned to the next account. So in that respect they "count," but the counts that are visible? No, they're gone, as if they never existed.

So then would the user name be "burned" as well as if a real person wanted to be the "appliancebot", they'd have to be "appliancebot2"?

Correct, the name is gone forever.
